The Caronia will receive a traditional Port of New York welcome when she makes her maiden appearance here Tuesday, it was announced yesterday by the Cunard White Star Line.
G. Joseph Minetti, Commissioner of Marine and Aviation, who will represent Mayor O'Dwyer, and a group of city officials will meet the liner off quarantine to extend the city's official greetings.
As she moves slowly through the upper bay to her berth at Pier 90, North Harbour, harbour craft will exchange three-blast salutes with the new vessel, and fireboats will send their towering water sprays into the air.
The company announced that several functions will be held aboard the liner during her stay in port, at which the liner and her crew will be introduced to the shipping trade, the press and the public.
