SOUTHAMPTON LANDING ARRANGEMENTS
ARRIVAL
Weather and other circumstances permitting, the ship is expected to dock at Southampton about
2.30pm Thursday, 18 August. Arrangements as detailed herein are based on this arrival time.
Should there be any alteration, further details will be promulgated.
SPECIAL TRAIN
A special train will be despatched to London (Waterloo) leaving about 5.15pm.
PASSPORT INSPECTION
The stamping of Passports and Landing Cards will take place in the Cabin Garden Lounge, the
time to be announced when known. Landing Cards, duly stamped by H.M. Immigration Officials,
should be surrendered at the gangway.
For their own comfort, passengers are advised not to assemble for disembarkation until the
signal is given to do so.
BAGGAGE
With the exception of one or two small pieces containing immediate necessities, all stateroom
baggage should be packed and ready for removal by 8.00am Thursday, 18 August. Passengers should
ensure that this baggage is correctly labelled with initial labels.
MAIL
Shortly before the ship docks, passengers are advised to call at the Purser's Office, “A” Deck
Square for any mail or parcels which may arrive for them. They are also advised to enquire at
the Mail Desk on the pier after disembarking for any mail which may have arrived too late to be
placed on board
DISEMBARKATION
Passengers will disembark about 4.30pm. and are reminded that the period of time between docking
and disembarkation is taken up with the transfer of baggage from ship to shore, and the arrangement
of same in alphabetical order, in readiness for Customs examination.
BARS
Bars will be closed for the sale of alcoholic drinks and tobacco at noon on Thursday.
LUNCHEON
Luncheon will be served at the following times: First sitting 12 noon, second sitting 1.00pm.
TELEPHONE
A ship to shore telephone situated on “A” Deck Square will be connected shortly after docking
for the use of passengers.
CABLES AND INLAND TELEGRAMS
Cables and Inland Telegrams for despatch on arrival at Southampton will be accepted at the Purser's
Office, “A” Deck Square.
BANK
The branch of Midland Bank Limited will open from 10.00am. to noon and 2.00 to 4.00pm. on Thursday.
RAIL TICKETS
In order to avoid delay, passengers are requested to have their Rail Tickets ready as soon as
they proceed to the special train.
In order to avoid congestion, passengers are requested to refrain from congregating on Main, “A”
and “R” Deck Squares, and to remain on the upper decks during the period between docking and
disembarkation hour.
