Madeira Island

This tour is recommended to those who have visited Madeira on previous cruises.
Leave the landing place by automobile, and after a visit to one of the leading wineries motor along the East Coast of Santa Cruz and Machico, thence across the mountains to Portela for a view of the North Coast. Continue to Saõ Roque do Fayal, where luncheon will be served at the charming restaurant, Casa de Chá do Fayal.
After luncheon motor to Ribeiro Frio, and on to Terreiro da Lucta, atop the mountain overlooking Funchal.
Descend the mountain by basket-sled and return to Funchal.
This fine scenic trip includes the same sightseeing as Tour 2, also an extensive island drive.

Funchal Drive
Full-day, by automobile. (luncheon included)
This tour includes a drive through lovely old Funchal by automobile, visiting a leading winery, where opportunity is available to learn something of the famous wine industry of the island.

The trip continues through the outskirts of the town and up the mountains to Terreiro da Lucta for the marvellous view of Funchal and its harbour.
Descent from the mountain is made by basket-sled, guided by native runners, a safe and enjoyable ride which is unique in all the World.
Luncheon will be served at the Chalet Restaurant atop Terreiro da Lucta or at Reid's Hotel in Funchal, and after luncheon there will be time to browse in the lace and embroidery shops.
The shopping center of Funchal is within easy walking distance of the landing place, so passengers may return to the Caronia until one hour before sailing.
