Leaving the pier, we proceed via the Plain of Sharon, Lydda, and the Judean Hills to Jerusalem, arriving in time for a late luncheon.

In the afternoon, there will be an automobile tour of Mount Zion, with a visit to King David's Tomb and the Church of Dormition. Thence drive via Talpioth, where, weather permitting, a distant view of the Dead Sea may be obtained.

Then to Ramat Rachel, where Bethlehem may be seen on a clear day. Visits are also made to Fin Karem (birthplace of John the Baptist) and the Church of St. John, as well as the Church of the Visitation.

The night will be spent in Jerusalem.

Thursday, 13 October

On the following morning, drive via the coastal road to Hadera, Wadi Ara, and up the Valley of Jezreel. Skirting Mt. Tabor, we pass Yavniel, and continue along the shore of the Sea of Galilee to Tiberias for luncheon.

In the afternoon, drive to Capernaum to visit the ruins of the 2nd century church. Continue to Kfar Kana, site of the Miracle of the Wine, and then to Nazareth. Visit the Church of Joseph the Carpenter, and Mary's Well.

Return to Haifa in the late afternoon.

In this uplifting tour of the towns, villages and sacred sites of the Holy Land, you will re-live the tumultuous times that have swept the countryside for centuries.

Starting with a visit to Nazareth where Jesus spent his boyhood, you'll pass through Tiberias, the ancient Roman fortress on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum and the ruins of the synagogue where Christ performed the miracles of the healing the sick.

Hugging the banks of the River Jordan, you will travel in a southerly direction towards the sea, and along Via Maris into Tel Aviv. Here are startlingly white modern apartment houses and government buildings that stand as a fine example of this country's progress.

Tel Aviv is Israel's newest metropolis, and this is where the night will be spent.

Thursday, 13 October

The following day you will set off inland, passing through the Judean Hills and into the city of Jerusalem.

You'll see the Tomb of David and the Chamber of the Last Supper atop Mt. Zion, and the return trip to Haifa will carry you to Ein Karem, birthplace of John the Baptist and one of Christianity's most revered shrines.

Today a Franciscan Monastery encloses the Church of St. John, while a handful of aging monks watch over the famous birthplace.
