Wednesday, 12 October Itinerary
Driving through the city of Haifa, one comes to the Persian Gardens and historic Mount Carmel, before entering the industrial suburbs for a brief visit to the cooperative agricultural settlement at Nahalal.
Then on to Nazareth, the birthplace of Christianity, for visits to such shrines as Joseph's workshop, Mary's Well and the synagogue where Christ taught. Upon arrival at Mount Beatitude, box lunches will be served in the garden of the Italian Monastery.
Your picnic over, you'll follow the shore of Lake Kinnereth (the Sea of Galilee, 681 feet below sea level), to Capernaum and Tabgha, which nestles on the banks of the sea. Legend has it that this was where Jesus wrought the miracle of the loaves and fishes.
On the return journey you'll drive to Tiberias and along the shores of the world-famed River Jordan, Degania settlement (first kibbutz in Israel) and arrive Haifa in the late afternoon.
