Text OptionsOne aspect of the Timeline is the interest shown in the Voyage Trace Maps that have been presented on several pages. You might think that every voyage would follow more or less exactly the same route, with an assumption that the shortest would always be the quickest.
On these two pages I have brought together several of these voyage traces so that they can be compared. What this shows is the variations taken, most probably because of the prevailing weather conditions. Indeed, on Caronia's maiden voyage, it was widely reported that Caronia came within sighting distance of the Azores, though none of these maps shown any route going that far South.
Below each image is a link to the actual Voyage Log which will open in a new pop-up window. This will give indications of the weather conditions for that voyage trace. Transcripts of these Voyage Logs are found on the parent page of the Timeline, and relevant links are afforded here too.
