RMS Caronia Timeline

As there are many quite tempting images on the Timeline, I decided that some of them could be made available for free download as public-domain images and optimised for use as wallpaper for PC's. The first of these is C.E. Turner's water colour of the Caronia which was used extensively, not only on postcards, but also as much larger posters for Cunard.

Using this image as wallpaper.

The filename is CAR2ART.JPG which has been specially optimised to fit 800x600 or 1024x768 screen resolutions. Right-click on the image and select Save As from the menu.

If it needs to be converted to a bitmap for use in Win9x, follow these instructions

• open Start § Accessories § Paint
• load the CAR2ART.JPG image
• do NOT manipulate the image in any way!
• directly click on File § Save As
• select 24bit BMP from the "Save file as type" selector
• the file name will now be CAR2ART.BMP
  - click [OK] - then close Paint
• copy or cut and paste the CAR2ART.BMP
  into the Windows folder, so that it's easily found
  when making the wallpaper selection.
• the last word is - Enjoy!!
