Crew List Transcripts Index
I am in the process of transcribing Crew Manifests for the years up to 1956. This is a longer term project
which may take another 18 months or so to complete.
The largest collection of photograph scans of crew members and their exploits has been provided by Ave Quin, who spent the best part of 16 years aboard the Caronia. As a photographer himself, he was a friend of Caronia's team of three on-board photographers.
Several more photographs have been contributed by Peter Jelley who joined the “Green Goddess” at Glasgow in December 1948. His photographs of the early period aboard Caronia are a treasure. Pete has also provided several photographs of a more recent time, illustrating the Caronia Reunions.
Where the quality of the photograph has allowed it, I have placed as large a scan as I can on these pages.
Below is a list of photograph contributors to this section...
I do need your help if you can give it, because there are many photographs where I have little or no
information that identifies whom is depicted.
If you have any information, and especially a story to tell about any picture here, I'd be delighted
to hear from you!

If you're a former Caronia crew member, then it's good to see you here. As this page testifies, there have been several people who have contributed to these pages and I'd be delighted to hear from you!
In building the Timeline, one aspect that I wanted to avoid at all costs was that it becomes just one man's story about life on Caronia. After all, I didn't spend that much time aboard her myself, so being willing to provide space on the main site and especially in the Caronia Forum gives plenty of scope to gather together information from many other sources.
Whether you spent months or years aboard Caronia is immaterial, the really important aspect is that you were once part of this fabulous ship's history. From the wonderful feedback I receive, I can assure you that there are plenty of visitors here who really do enjoy reading about what brings that history to life. Don't for one moment think that it's worthless - it isn't!
I'm pleased to see, after a very slow start, that there is now some activity on the Caronia Forum. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of scope for far more! So guys, it's time to overcome your shyness and enjoy the opportunity of remaking contact with your former colleagues...
I really can't over-emphasise the tremendous value of this posterity recording. If you haven't already made the step, I do urge you to join the Caronia Forum now - Enjoy..!
