Not Everyone Uses Award Sites! Ratings

Although, for simplicity, my awards won pages are partitioned according to Award Sites! ratings, some award programme owners (AP's) choose to use other rating systems. Some AP's prefer to not seek any rankings at all.

Whilst the heading of this page shows “Other Awards” this should not by any means be understood as awards coming from AP's that are unrated. Indeed, several of the awards on this page have come from AP's that are, or have been, among the most respected on the Web!

Winner of the Crystal 1st Award
Crystal 1st Award
Won 16 Feb 2005
[Programme Closed]

Laudation received from: Sylvia.

Dear Peter Stevens,

Congratulations!
Your Web site - Caronia II Timeline - has met my criteria and has won a Crystal Award. What can I say?... Apart from the “decorative” images (such as the ‘frame’ images) not having null ALT tags, this site is perfect by my criteria! Accessible and user-friendly, it is excellently written and very informative, quick to load, easy to navigate, and with an effective uncluttered design.

I especially liked the 'personal touches' inserted here and there in the narrative, which (in my opinion) make the whole site ‘come alive’. Your personalised award graphic is attached to this email. Again, congratulations, and keep up the good work!

Cordially,
Sylvia

Gold! Maritime Web Award Winner
Maritime Gold
Web Award

Won 12 Oct 2004

Laudation received from: Steve Harris

Dear Peter,
What a site ?!!! Such a loving tribute to a fine old girl. I cannot think that you have left any stone unturned with so much information. I am sure that former passengers and crew members of the CARONIA II will love your site. I was even able to see where the CARONIA II was when I was born... but that would be telling!!!

For such a tremendous tour de force, we are delighted to award our GOLD Award. In artistry of the Web site your Web site scored well and on useful maritime educational, historical information, it went off the scale!

The Maritime Web Awards exist to encourage those creating (non-commercial) educational or historical maritime Web sites, which seek to help educate the world about some aspect of marine life, often borne out of their creator's own experiences or records. Very often, huge efforts and considerable background research go into creating these Web sites with little reward for the creators beyond perhaps, a few appreciative messages in the Web site's guest book!

Thanks again for applying and for letting us know about a really lovely maritime Web site.
